Caring for the New River Valley’s

Future—One Child at a Time

Valley Interfaith Child Care Center (VICCC) in Blacksburg, VA is rooted in the belief that a society investing in its future must begin by caring for its youngest and most vulnerable members. From birth, children begin developing cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally—so we strive to ensure their earliest experiences are positive, nurturing, and full of opportunity.

Through partnerships with local governments, social service agencies, civic organizations, businesses, academic institutions, and especially the faith communities of the New River Valley, VICCC provides high-quality, affordable, and educational child care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Our mission focuses on supporting income-eligible, working families throughout the New River Valley with a safe, inclusive environment where every child can grow and thrive.

Our Story

The idea of VICCC was formed in 2003, when a group of friends met and shared their concern that the crisis in child care, felt by families of every economic situation was most urgent and critical for lower-income working families, who could neither find nor afford traditional child care. Too many young children were being left in substandard, unsafe, unreliable care, while struggling parents who had no good options went to work. This was unacceptable.

The result was the vision--now brought to full and vibrant life--of a high-quality, affordable, state-licensed center--a place where children are happy to arrive each day, and where their parents and guardians could go to work with peace of mind, knowing their children are safe and loved.  Since 2003, the New River Valley community has taken this vision to its heart, and has made VICCC one of our area's greatest success stories.

The earliest years are crucial to a young child's brain formation and development. VICCC's commitment goes far beyond offering day care--we provide a nurturing, developmentally-rich curriculum and an environment that prepares children for kindergarten and for life. (While support comes from many compassionate communities of faith, our educational program is a secular one. emphasizing early learning and the social skills that will help our children shine when they enter kindergarten.) Generous supporters--civic groups, businesses, and many individuals--have provided books, music and art experiences, outdoor play and gardening fun, and much more. Please go to our "A Day at VICCC" page and see the wonderful array of learning and fun activities our children enjoy.

Our Supporters — AdVICCCates

Valley Interfaith Child Care Center would not be possible without the generous support of our community.
